Routine checkups and cleanings help us track how teeth and gums are doing over time and catch small concerns early. During a typical visit, we examine the teeth, gums, bite, and overall oral health. If needed, we may take x-rays to look for cavities between teeth or other issues that can’t be seen by eye.
We also remove plaque buildup, polish the teeth, and may recommend fluoride to strengthen enamel and support cavity prevention. Before you leave, we’ll review home-care tips and answer questions so you feel prepared between visits.
When a cavity is small, we can often restore the tooth with a tooth-colored composite filling that blends naturally. For larger cavities—especially on back teeth that do most of the chewing—extra reinforcement may be needed to protect the tooth and prevent future fractures or repeated decay.
Brushing after meals and snacks, flossing daily, and limiting sugary drinks are the biggest helpers. If you notice sensitivity, food getting stuck, or a dark spot on a tooth, schedule an evaluation so we can treat it early.
Sealants are a thin protective coating placed on the deep grooves of back teeth where food and bacteria can hide. The goal is to create a smoother surface that’s easier to clean and less likely to develop cavities. Applying sealants is quick, comfortable, and non-invasive.
If your child participates in contact sports or active recreation, a custom-fit mouth guard can help protect teeth, gums, and jaws from impact injuries. Our guards are designed to fit securely, allow normal breathing, and feel comfortable. They also come in a variety of colors.
Accidents happen. If your child experiences dental trauma—such as a chipped tooth, a knocked tooth, swelling, or sudden pain— call us right away. We’ll guide you on what to do next and work to get you seen as soon as possible.
Call right away for facial swelling, bleeding that won’t stop, a tooth that feels loose after an impact, or pain that keeps your child from sleeping or eating normally.
Consistency matters most. Encourage gentle brushing twice daily with a soft brush, floss once per day, and rinse with water after snacks. For cavity-prone mouths, we may also recommend fluoride support and targeted prevention based on your child’s needs.
